India vs Australia: Ashwin’s knack for learning new things, Jadeja’s improved batting is great for us, says Rahane – cricket

Standing Captain Ajinkya Rahane welcomed the spin duo as field heroes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja during the Boxing Day test against Australia. Ahead of Steve Smith twice in the ongoing series, Ashwin is the best wicket taker with 10 scalps under his belt. Jadeja, on the other hand, scored 50 points in the second test, and more than 100 stands against Rahane laid the groundwork for India’s eighth-weeket victory in Melbourne.

Ahead of Sydney’s third test, Rahane said Ashwin is good at learning new things and that’s what makes the latter a’great’ cricketer.

“That [Ashwin] Always trying to learn something new. He has good skills but always wants to learn new things and makes Ashwin great. I hope he will continue with the next two test matches and work for us,” Rahane said at a virtual press conference before the match.

If Ashwin’s improvisations impressed Rahane, he’s also happy with Jadeja’s test match application, which adds the necessary balance the team often lacked.

“As a hitter, Ravindra Jadeja has improved a lot and is an important point from the team’s point of view. Knowing that number 7 can contribute to the bat, in fact it’s really easy to get that (decent) total score and you’ll definitely have seen him on the field take a great catch,” said the stand-in captain. .

“Yes, joining his team helped us a lot and he was really fantastic and it was great for us,” he added.

The SCG turnstiles are helping spinners, so Rahane doesn’t want his team to take a chance while playing against Nathan Lyon.

“Yes, we have a good spinner, but Nathan Lyon is a good quality spinner that did a good job here, so we don’t want anyone to take it lightly,” he said.
