Australian player James Pattinson was removed from the upcoming Sydney test against India, Cricket Australia confirmed in a statement Monday. Bowler injured a rib after falling at home.
“Quick bowler James Pattinson was removed from the Australian squad in the third #AUSvIND Vodafone Test with bruised ribs. He will not be replaced in the squad and will be evaluated ahead of the Brisbane test match,” the Australian Cricket Commission said in a statement.
With Pattinson removed from the second test of the four-match series, Michael Neser competes for only Sean Abbott for a place in the XI play. The versatile athlete appeared to be working on a large scale in his second test in Melbourne.
Pattinson won three wickets as he last played in a tour match against India prior to the series’ opening tests.
He won 81 wickets in 21 matches against Australia, an average of 26.33, and made his last appearance against New Zealand in January.
